Eastern tent caterpillars (Malacosoma americana), #7701

Reveler Conservation Area

The tent caterpillars hatched a few weeks ago and spun their 'tents' in which could be seen tiny caterpillars. Now they are growing fast and leaving their shelters to feed on tips of prunus trees. Birds such as Black-billed cuckoos eat great numbers of these caterpillars.

Not a fan of these guys. They really damage the cherry trees here. Vote.
