Mourning cloak butterfly (Nymphalis antiopa)

Reveler Conservation Area

I went to the conservation area today hoping to see my first butterfly of the year and I wasn't disappointed. The sunny skies and warm weather (about +12 to +14c) was just right to lure these overwintering butterflies out of their shelter. I saw three in total, a real sign of spring~

Soaking up the warmth of the sun, I must be a butterfly because I love to that too!
