Black knot fungus (Dibotryon morbosum)

Reveler Conservation Area

This is probably a familiar sight to those who have plum or prune (Prunus)trees, whether cultivated or native species. The growth, caused by the fungus Dibotryon morbosum, can eventually cause trees to die. It is not uncommon to see many native Prunus trees afflicted by this disease.

Don23-Mar-2016 20:29
It does look threatening, perhaps because it is black and warty. Don't stand still for too long!
