Zabriskie Point, Death Valley

apparently the sediments from an ancient lake here are almost impermeable, so water runs off easily, soil does not get established, and almost nothing can grow

the location was named to honour Christian Zabriskie, a one-time VP and GM of the Pacific Coast Borax Company

the view is to the west, with Death Valley behind, and beyond that the Panamint Mountains
