The former Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau was built between 1901-1930 and was designed by the Catalan modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. When we were there it was under restoration, but Jose has done an excellent gallery including the finished project http://www.pbase.com/joseantonio/santpau&page=all . It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I got back home from the hospital this afternoon, for a “short” surgery to remove the very big (like 3 inches) wire from my toe (painfully). I got there at 6 a.m. but they didn’t discharge me until about 1:30 p.m. Unfortunately, I still won’t be able to walk for at least another two weeks ☹.
