The Salisbury Plain

South Georgia Island

We make our first landing on the north coast of South
Georgia before daybreak, 5:15am, ship time.

The first impression one gets is that there are a lot
of penguins here. We are later told that about 60,000
King Penguins nest on this beach along with elephant
seals and southern fur seals. Life is everywhere.
