Sawfly cocoon on white pine

Reveler Conservation Area

Yesterday, passing by a small white pine on which I'd found some sawfly larvae (Neodiprion pinetum) in summer, I wondered if there might be a cocoon somewhere near where the sawflies were, and sure enough... To see a larva: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/160892728
