The brightness of the sun, harsh, hot, unrelenting. The hard edges that its light imparts to everything. Yet overhead, the darkening skies speaking of a blustery, stormy cool southerly change to come later, and the fat raindrops that will hit the heated ground and momentarily sizzle before evaporating into steam.
Indeed, summer does feel like this. And it hasn't even officially begun yet.
