This area of the island is marshy and has beavers living in it. A few years a neighbor's dog had cornered a beaver and was barking crazy at it. The dog's owner went out, saw it and with the help of another person, threw a heavy tarp over the beaver. It scuttled out from under it, ran past the women, biting her on the ankle as it passed her. She was required to go thru Rabies treatments.
