"Bat Cat" AKA Hag Moth caterpillar (Phobetron pithecium), #4677

Reveler Conservation Area

Went back with a friend to see if we could find the hag moth caterpillar, as she very much wanted to see this species. It was in the same place but had nearly doubled in size, and was very active. Here, I photographed it as it crawled toward me along the Basswood leaf, and I thought how much like a bat it looks from this angle!

Wow! This is so cool! And so good. What an unusual view. How close were you? ~BV~
