The Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery is one of 17 northern
elephant seal rookeries on the Pacific ocean between Mexico and
Vancouver Island, Canada. It was not until 1990 that the elephant
seals began using Piedras Blancas' six mile beach as a rookery.
