Rose sawfly (Arge ochropa)

At home

This adult sawfly is visiting the Queen Anne's Lace flowers in my garden. Each year I've had a small number of sawfly larvae on my climbing rose, but not this year. They never did much damage and in fact were interesting to photograph. They also attracted larvae of beneficial insects such as green lacewings.
