Please don't photograph me!

Many of my Pbase friends know our Kuwaiti desert dog, Sahraa, hates to have her picture taken and will go to any lengths to avoid it. We think this is because as a puppy in Kuwait she was shot with an air gun (and still has pellets in her body to prove it), and is afraid of anything pointed at her, even a cell phone. As a result, I have relatively few pictures of her and have to be happy with what I can manage to get, even if not the greatest captures.

She hadn’t seemed so afraid of this Sony camera, so I thought I’d give it a try at home. Once she realized what was going on, she ran over to Tim and ultimately ended up with her back to me, hiding behind his chair.

Meanwhile, back in Morocco, a famous square, posted earlier:

Sorry to hear about her being shot --- that's a terrible thing to do to a dog, let alone a puppy. At least she is in a better home with a loving family.

Bless her heart, she looks terrified.

Fine looking pup, Helen. Too bad he's camera shy but it's still a very fine photo. Vote.

Ohhh, she even has her eyes closed as if waiting for something to hurt. I bet you are right about her associating anything pointed at her with pain from that earlier experience. I am so glad you now have her and she is loved. V

Awww, this breaks my heart! So endearing when they do the squinty eyes and hold their ears that way. What a treasure you have in her. V
