We packed up this morning and headed out. We stopped at the Saga Center at Hvolsvollur and found out about Njal's Saga. It was hard to follow because the names are so strange. It was a very nice exhibition. What I got out of following the saga is that there was a lot of killing in those days but the killers could always get out of it by paying some settlement. Pride was important and honor must be upheld. If you were a pagan, you did not forgive, but you extracted vengeance. If you were a Christian, you forgave then got slaughtered.

This was a day of waterfalls. There are lots of them. Ginny wanted to stop at all of them. Frankly, after Gullfoss it was hard to find a waterfall that was very exciting. It was fun to walk behind Seljandsfoss, however. We stopped at the Volcano center at Eyjafjallajökull. This was the volcano that erupted in 2010 and caused airline havoc in Europe. They had an interesting film documentary about the farm across the road and how it dealt with all the ash fallout.

We stopped at some rocks in the sea which were underwhelming. That's what Ginny wanted and so, therefore, that is what we did. You get the picture. We ended up in Kirkjubaejarklaustur and our hotel for the next two nights. It is the Hotel Geirland. The accomodations are nice and comfortable. There is no Internet in the room which stinks. They say that there are two areas where there is internet access, but both are rather poor for that use. In this day and age it is hard to imagine a hotel anywhere in the civilized world that does not have internet available in the rooms. Heck, at Motel 6 (a real cheapie) they have had in room internet for a long time.
