Sahara Desert, view from the dune

This was the view from the top of “our” dune, where we waited for the sun to set. Eventually other people came, but while we were there alone, it was marvelous. Until the wind started up, that is, when I had to put all my camera gear away because everything quickly got covered in sand. I thought my lens had been ruined as I could hear it grinding when I tried to zoom, but in the end it all survived. Come to think of it, that situation is pretty much like home in Riyadh!

Our camels waiting for us at the bottom of the dune, posted earlier:

Truly an astonishing place. It would be very easy to get lost in that expanse of sand dunes. V
