Sahara Desert, hotel

This was the beginning of our trip out to the Sahara Desert’s Erg Chebbi, the largest sand desert in Morocco. Rostom handed us over to a Berber driver with a big SUV who knew the desert like the back of his hand. Good thing, because there were no roads out there. Rostom refuses to drive in the Sahara any more since he once got terribly lost at night and managed to convince a Berber camel herder – by giving him every single dirham he had on him – to guide him back to a road. The herder didn’t want to leave his camels, but finally agreed. I’m sure the large amount of money helped.

The hotel we stayed at out on the sand dunes, although I’m not really sure it had any rooms, but rather tents (next picture to come). We stayed in a “deluxe” tent, with meals provided and a shower and a bed that didn't allow for insects and scorpions to intrude.

The desolation in the Sahara, posted earlier:

Most interesting doorway. I like the starkness of this. V.

The simplicity of this building stands out so well against the blue sky with the lighting in your capture. The unique door make a great POV. Voted

A very interesting building; at first I thought it might be a desert fort. V
