Colby – Montpelier – Stoddard Benham Colby (1816 – 1867) – Graduate of Dartmouth College, 1836; Admitted to the Vermont Bar, 1838; State Representative from Derby, VT, 1841; Appointed Register of the United States Treasury and assumed office, August 12, 1864; Unsuccessfully ran for United States Congress, 1856; Received an honorary LL.D. from Norwich University, 1867.

2. R. M. Gleason – Thetford – Richard Mills Gleason (1798 - ?) - Settled in Thetford in 1833. He moved to the Norwich in an area known as “Gleason's Flatts”; He erected mills and dealt heavily in lumber. Served as Justice, Town Agent, and Selectman of Union Village.
