1. Hoit Stevens – Castleton – Dr Hoit Charles Stevens (1833 – 1898) – Graduated from Castleton Medical College in 1854 and went into practice in the Salem, Virginia area. Served in the Roanoke Greys, 28th Virginia Infantry, Army of the Confederate States of America as a hospital steward; Wounded by an exploding shell at Gains Mill on June 27, 1862, mustered out at the end of the year. Justice of the Peace, Roanoke County; Moved to Texas by 1880.
