We spent all day walking around the West End of Doha, where most of the spectacular architecture is located. One of the things I really wanted to see on this trip was more of the buildings lit up at night. Not all are, but those that are illuminated are fantastic. After seven hours of walking, we were heading back to our hotel and cut across an empty lot when we turned around and saw two of the iconic buildings here, the so-called Tornado Tower on the left, and Burj Qatar on the right, lit up. Both of them kept changing, the former from blues to reds, and the latter from silver to orange, with light shows in between. It was an amazing sight; we must have hung around for half an hour enjoying it.

We have returned to Doha, Qatar, two months after our first visit. I realized when working on pictures for the first two galleries http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/doha_architecture and http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/doha that we had missed a lot, so wanted to come back, especially to see more of the spectacular and very innovative architecture. Plus I just like this city, one of my favorites of all the places we’ve ever visited.
This particular sub-gallery will once again be dedicated to the varied architecture in Doha, at night, when much of it is beautifully lit up. I really wanted to better document the creative architecture in Doha on this return trip, so a daytime gallery will follow at some point!
Posted earlier today, the redtop, which is headquarters to Ooredoo, a major communications company in Qatar.
