I’m going back in time and ending this gallery with my favorite camel, seen in Wadi Dharbat. Some might remember the story, but to recap, we had stopped for something and saw a car and a camel in a parking lot. There weren’t many cars in the wadi, so even seeing one was unusual. The car drove off, and we watched the camel for a while, who wouldn’t step out of the parking lot and kept looking longingly (if that’s possible for a camel) in the direction the car had gone. We finally left it there, looking off in the distance and waiting. I don’t know what the real story was – maybe the camel just liked the parking lot – but to us, it was a very poignant scene.

Anyway, thanks so much for all the wonderful comments and votes in this Oman gallery! I’m glad to could give a glimpse into this fascinating country, to which we are already planning a third visit. But for now, off to Qatar!
