In mid 2002, Nikon released the D100 digital camera in Australia. At 6.1 MP it was an impressive unit and much cheaper than the D1 professional model. I had already 'gone digital' with the purchase of a Canon Power Shot S45, 4 MP point and shoot digital camera as a companion to my Nikon F5.
By early 2003 I had convinced myself that the D100 was a must have, together with the Mb-D100 multi function battery pack, bought one and fell in love with it. The D100 filled all of my digital photography needs at the time and the Canon S45 slipped quietly into the background.
As I moved up the Nikon digital camera range, I didn't abandon my faithful D100. Instead, I sent it to Life Pixel Infrared in Mukilteo, Washington 96275, USA and had it converted to Infrared only. I now use it specifically to capture the infra red light spectrum and I'm fascinated by the results I obtain..
