Over the summer I decided to upgrade my software to the new Adobe Creative Cloud. There are lots of options of various prices, but they offered Lightroom and Photoshop for a fee of $9.99 per month. At first that sounds a little steep, but when I went back to see what I had paid for Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2, it came out to about the same price. I also decided that I liked the idea of updates whenever available, so I signed on.
New things, especially software, worry me. You just never know what you are getting into. As I have mentioned before, I am grateful to my friend Dave Beedon for pointing me in the direction of Lightroom. I use it all the time. It is a great photo database manager and a pretty good photo editor that does almost everything I want. Almost. There are times when I want to do some editing the requires Photoshop. I am no Photoshop wizard, but I can get it to do some things, like taking out that fence post or bollard.
I decided to start converting to the new software slowly. Last summer I upgraded to Lightroom 5. I didn't want to make the conversion to Lightroom 5 all at once. Unfortunately, it uses a different catalog system, so it was all or nothing. Well, that turned out to be OK. Although there were some changes, it was not a problem getting acclimated. I like it. So today I decided to go the rest of the way with Photoshop and Bridge. I deactivated my CS4 and ran the installation programs. Slick as heck. The new Bridge is not much different and the new Photoshop is enhanced for sure, but I was able to run a couple simple tasks without problems. Things are looking good.
The peasants rejoiced and peace returned to the realm.
