Standing & Running Rigging

Port Side Irving Johnson. The difference between Standing and Running Rigging:

Standing Rigging are lines or wires that remain in place when a ship is under sail. They provide tension to the masts and bowsprit to keep them securely braced.

Running Rigging are the lines use to raise and lower sails and to change their position as needed for navigation.

Sailors know all the lines by feel so they can use them in the dark.

It must take a long time to learn which to use. Very well captured. V

Fine details. Looks quite confusing for me, but I´m not a sailor.

That's a lot of lines. They must have a large crew. Creative framing and super detail. V.

Once again you have captured the essence of sailing with this image of the rigging. Great lighting and with the clarity of the image I can almost feel the weathered ropes as they have begun to age. Voted

Ein sehr schönes Motiv. Aber noch mehr gefällt mir der perfekte Weißabgleich, wodurch die Taue super wirken und einen sehr schönen Kontrast zum blauen Himmel abgeben. V
