All the huts have cubbies or a separate room to store your hiking shoes. People either carry their own slippers (I had Crocs) or use a pair provided by the hut. I had to laugh at our trail shoes surrounded by all the boots. Trail shoes are common in the US, but we saw nobody wearing them on the trails in Austria or Italy.
