West of Kaplan, about a little more than half way to Gueydan is the town of Wright. The community is now not much more than a crossroad and old rice mill.

The Southern Pacific Midland branch passed thru the area enroute from New Iberia to the east and Gueydan to the west, turning north to Midland. There were stub tracks to rive mills all along this now abandoned line.

Wright is another place that might not show up on maps. This is about all that's left of what used to be the town.
