A large (about 40mm) moth found sitting on a fence post. And no, I am not calling it a darling underwing because I think it is darling! That is its common name (moths have all manner of wondrous names!). When the wings spread, they show a deep rosy pink with a black band. I have found this species perched on fence posts and on birch trees (especially), during the day, a number of times.
