I had a very interesting experience today. We went to the hospital to visit Andrew and Austin in the NICU. I had no idea what to expect in there. I was amazed at all the gadgets and monitors that are in use for just one baby. Each boy had his own compliment of machinery. All sorts of monitors and IV and feeding stuff. You must have to be a rocket scientist to take it all in.

When I had a look at Andrew and Austin I realized how fragile life is and what a blessing the technology is. Andrew is two minutes older than Austin. He is also the smaller one. Today's photo is of Austin. Andrew was under a UV light, and the photo came out, you guessed it, blue and white. Not very good.

I left the place in wonderment. They have all these trained personnel minding the babies with what is probably state of the art equipment. We can talk about the pluses and minuses of the US health care system, but one look inside the NICU tells you it is worth it.
