"Change" and the Passage of Time

Shiloh, TN

The last few years have been difficult ones in the US, and things are pretty worrisome. In a fallen world, the future is always uncertain.

Reflecting the growing political strife, when the President and the Congress disagreed earlier this year, rather than cut funds from programs of waste, the President's people made the conscious decision to cause as much disruption to the general population's enjoyment as possible; a reprehensible and cynical decision.

The World War II Memorial, on the National Mall was closed, despite its presence in the open. Photographers were precluded from stopping on a public highway to shoot the Mount Rushmore Monument. Things your juvenile sibling would do because he was being mean became the rule.

At Shiloh, I have never seen the majority of the hallowed battlefields in such disrepair. No mowing, fields overgrown and disrespected. The programs to refresh and respect the monuments, well, as you can see, it is not just the grass in disrepair. At least the lack of attention makes for interest visually...for a while.

A symbol for the unfortunate patina which is developing here. Praying for statesmen, leaders, moral examples, and mentors. Fervently. Often.

Michael, I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I apologize. My prayer is for our government to
find a way to work together for the common good and find a way out of the polarization
that is so evident.

Sad to see the Lady in disrepair. You have done an excellent job with this photo, Michael. I pray for better times for all of us, including your beautiful "Passage of Time".

Fred, thank you for your comment.
Terry, thanks for looking at my image.

Thank you, Hal. I will shoot the park when next there so you can see. I will send to you directly; don't want to offend Terry again. After all, this IS, I am sure, the only time in history a realistic photo is useful in expressing frustration with the world's brokenness. If you'll look back in my list, you can see how great the change...

A lovely image Michael.
l never owned a 'lux 75mm.
So sharp it almost scratches my screen.
l can appreciate your sad views.
An old Chinese curse....
May you live in interesting times.'

While I respect your right to have and to express your political opinions, Michael, and regardless of whether I agree with them or not, I don't think this is the proper forum to do so.
Meanwhile, nicely photographed detail.

Nicely documented, I agree with your statements. I think our officials have forgotten who elected then and figure it was only their party that put them there. We are a diverse group of people and not just a Republican or Democrat so our representatives should listen to the people and not the party.
