This was a view of the ceiling, which we hadn’t even seen as we were in the gift shop. Luckily, an employee came outside and told us about it, plus a movie that was going on about Iceland. We checked out the movie, but it had already finished; however, this fascinating ceiling was still there. This was taken looking five floors up.
Harpa, Reykjavík’s new concert hall and cultural center, is “an architectural beacon of prosperity in a post-crash economy,” according to Lonely Planet “Iceland.”
“Giving the Sydney Opera House a run for its money in both scope and allegory, Harpa dazzles the eye with an intricate lattice of convex and concave glass panels that sparkle like the switchboard of an alien spaceship at night.”
I don’t believe there was a single straight line on the exterior or inside the building, making it quite a challenge to photograph but a delight to see.
