There were arcades lining the two long sides of the mosque complex, with each section containing eight ceramic/mosaic panels depicting a specific era in Islamic art. I tried to photograph a representative of each set; sometimes I seem to have gotten only one, and sometimes as many as five. It’s also difficult now trying to figure out which panels belong to which era, so in some cases I have to guess.
This is the twelfth of at least 12 images; I’ll probably add to them later, but for now, the Oman and Grand Mosque galleries are finished! And we leave for the airport in 15 minutes ;-). Talk about cutting it close. I'll try to keep up as well as I can; just don't know what my Internet situation will be there.
Thanks so much for all the wonderful support for these galleries! I think I was as surprised as anyone at how fantastic a place Oman was. Of course, I’ve been wanting to go there for like 30 years, when Tim joined the Foreign Service, and I finally made it.
