Moth caterpillar (Pyrrhia sp.)

Reveler Conservation Area

This is a moth caterpillar in the genus Pyrrhia, one of the Sallows in the Noctuidae family. There are only three Pyrrhia species in North America, but the caterpillars are very variable, so I am not sure which species this is, but am leaning toward P. adela. It was found on staghorn sumac.

A fine closeup of this not too common caterpillar. Great that this land can be preserved for nature ! V
