Sheetweb weaver spider (Neriene sp.), female

The sheetweb weavers spin bowl-shaped webs in shrubs and tall vegetation. They then hang around upside down waiting for something to become trapped in the fine filmy web. They can move with lightning speed when something stumbles into the web. They are fairly small spiders, the females at about 7mm, the males smaller.

What a great photo - the web is so fine and you got such a sharp image of the spider.
