It’s my last day ever at Uni today, other than my graduation, which happens off-campus so not on this site. I must confess to having outstayed my welcome at this place. I feel a bit like I'm at the pongy fish stage of staying somewhere if you understand the analogy. A year ago I’d have said that I loved the university and all of the opportunities and life-enrichment it offered me. Now I can’t wait to have no more to do with it. I’m GLAD to be leaving and happy to never need to set foot through its doors again. Unlike a year ago, when I felt fulfilled and thrilled with my achievement, all I feel now is exhausted and empty. I’d cheerfully upend most of the content of the last year into this reservoir in the certain knowledge that I’d never see it again. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my achievement but I've hated the journey to get here.
On the plus side, I did get to have a lovely lunch with a small (but perfectly formed) group of fellow students from my cohort and therefore to be able to have a chance to say goodbye and to see what they’re all planning next. It was the highlight of my day. In fact, had it not been for the unusual event of the impending arrival of Colin tomorrow, it’s probably have made it to my top occasion of this month. So to Chloe, Claire, Dexter, Lucy P, Sophie, Michael, Russell, Evie and James – I wish you all the very best for your futures. (Henry, lovely to meet you.) Also to Andrew, Callum, Lucy T and Maria who didn’t make lunch and everyone else who didn’t make it into Uni today – I hope that your dreams come true! (Well, if they’re good ones, not Zombie Apocalypse ones…)
