Meybod fortress, The Narin Qal'eh (In Persian: نارین قلعه) which is called Narenj (Narin) Castle is one of the most important relics of the province dating back to the period before the advent of Islam to Iran, and has been recorded as one of the national buildings.
This ancient castle has been constructed around 4000 B.C. on the top of Galeen hill and overlooks the city. The structure was built using the mud-brick, it stand 40 meters tall from base to top.
There is a terrace high on top of the castle whose circulation is provided by two helical stairwells (whose walls have caved in, making it inaccessible). It also has a large underground chamber (filled now by rubble), possibly a prison.
Four towers surround the entire structure, and a large gate furnishes access to a large courtyard. The structure seems to have been the victim of numerous earthquakes throughout the ages.
