washboard

south of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico

Washboard Sam (who left us songs like Who Pumped The Air Into My Doughnut (!) and Diggin' My Potatoes), was a blues musician of the 1930s-50s...here though is Washboard Sam Rua, who this day piloted the four of us over the rippled roads of the state's northwestern corner...this is Route 57, south of the fabled site of Chaco Canyon...the way back to Farmington took longer than expected, much to our delight

Sam did a lot of washboard driving to the racetrack in Death Valley. Nice capture of his sturdy ride. V

Looks a bumpy ride...hope Sam went with the spirit of your caption and kept you entertained with his vocal renditions.V

Washboard Sam, the modern version, clearly did stellar service in piloting you all safely across this magnificent and lonesome looking land. VV

The long way home? This could be a rural road in NZ.

I knew Chaco was hard to get to, and this image really emphasizes that point. A very effective comp, David. V

Love your composition with that shiny car set in the midst of the dry landscape. Great lead-in, too. V.

Nicely composed and captured, David. I think the truck did us all well on our adventures, although you had a right to be skeptical as we started our journey on Schnebly Hill road near Sedona.
