Pleasant rock formations. If I came here again I would camp at Hidden Valley (if I could get a spot).
The Joshua trees are those with the small tops, (ie no shade).
I arrived late from Flagstaff on purpose to avoid the heat, the last part of the drive reminded me of Death Valley with the shades of brown.
I forfeited my second night's camp rather than deal with the heat here, though the day before it did not seem to bad outside the green house effect of my car. I did the small northern loop, and made a dash for my camp on the NW side of the park (Black Canyon?) before it became dark. I was surprised to see a Walmart and lots of traffic driving into Palm Springs very early in the morning. By the time I left Palm Springs the traffic was dead stopped even though I was still 100 miles from LA. I spent the night in the San Bernadio National Forest. Pleasant but no photos.
