On the road to Makkah

I was surprised at how mountainous the terrain became the closer we got to Makkah. I have other pictures (like the previous image) in which I wasn’t shooting almost directly into the sun, but I liked the rugged line of the mountains in this one.

Very nice layers of colours in the mountain ranges.
I can't help finding the sings somewhat sinister. What would happen if you
ended up in the wrong lane?
