I find it fascinating how the color of the sand changes by location. Here it was very red, while in other places it was golden or even blond in color. The terrain also varied -- sometimes just sand, sometimes vegetation dotted the landscape, and the closer we got to the coast and Dhahran, it could almost be called lush with greenery.

I am uploading the images from this trip in groups because they really are just fleeting impressions of what I saw from the car and so this sub-gallery, too, will be pretty fleeting!
