Winter abaya

Another of my new abayas – this one is made of velvet and is suitable for winter, when I am told it gets pretty cold at night. Actually, I had seen the trim (which has rhinestones on it although they’re hard to see) and loved the material, so Eman made this especially for me.

I went to an abaya party this afternoon so will also be posting some pictures from that. I refrained from buying anything (!) but do have my eye on one of them ;-). It’s not like I need more of them, but the fact is I just like them, especially Eman’s beautiful creations.

This is the back of the velvet abaya:

Like this one very much. I only (had to) put on the solid black one 3 or 4 times when I entered the mosques.

Your photos are certainly changing all my assumptions about abayas (that they are all unadorned black). This is gorgeous and the design remarkable. V

This is very elegant, Helen. The colors and complexity of the design are wonderful. I never would have guessed there were velvet abayas. V
