DQ denizen

This is one of the countless cats that inhabit the DQ, in the garden of the Malaysian Embassy. While dogs aren’t liked by the Saudis, cats seem to be OK, and one often sees food and water left outside of houses for them.

Sahraa, our Kuwaiti desert dog, is now learning how to chase cats, although some of them are pretty aggressive and could beat her up if given half a chance. In Budapest there was a black cat who frequented our garden, and Sahraa was afraid of him. My husband thinks she is improving now that she will at least not run away from the cats around here. He doesn’t like cats at all (although I had three of them when we met, and he still married me) and is very proud of her newfound courage.

This was my very late night at the paper so will have to catch up with Pbase tomorrow unless I want to fall asleep commenting on pictures (which I have done in the past ;-)).

Not surprising as the Persian and the Turkish Van originated in the middle east. They earn their keep by keeping the rodent population in check. She has a sweet expression and an interesting color pattern. Voted.

From the look on it's face, I think this cat knows you own a dog :-)

A very sweet picture, Helen. I think cats are OK because of the, possible apocryphal, story of Muhammad and the cat. V

Awwww ~ what a sweet kitty! Love the beautiful eyes! :) V
Sounds as though Sahraa is doing an excellent job of protecting you and Tim! :)

This is so funny, but my first impression was that she looks like a very foreign cat! I see her ears are back and I think that means she's none too happy.

It is a lovely cat. I'm sure Sahraa is finding all of the these new residents a little unsettling! Who knows they may become really good buddies...eventually! :) V

This cat is lovely, and it is nice to hear that they are treated well. Too bad your husband doesn't like cats! You might otherwise have adopted some of the ones you see here. V

Pretty little kitty but it does have a somewhat feral look too. I like the way you've captured it behind the fence. V.
