Part of this major re-design was a change in the way the lids were supported. Gone are the lid lips seen in another photo. Front ends of the lids now rest on the 2x6 filler plates seen in yet another photo. This brought them forward, exposing part of the rear-end support structure. That exposed wood had to be covered, so I built carpeted filler pieces (not shown) for that area.
