Crater Island, Utah (26 mi./ 42 km northeast of Wendover)
The dark tire tracks were made by my handcart two minutes earlier. The faint tracks at right were made 15 months earlier, in June 2011. The fact that the recent tracks are so well-defined means that the mud was too moist and soft---a bad omen.
