Handles elevated by a "kickstand"

Crater Island, Utah (26 mi./ 42 km northeast of Wendover)

This shot shows the “kickshand” in use. It’s the short vertical board at center, elevating the handles at a comfortable height. No need to bend down to grab the handles! The kickstand does not interfere with pushing or pulling the cart.

Note that the cart is inside some faint truck tire tracks made who-knows-when. I followed them because I knew from the previous hike that they led out into open areas of mud. About 95% of the time I pushed the cart because it was more comfortable and more efficient than pulling it.

This is an early section of the hike. I'm about one mile east of my car. I gradually curved to the left to head north toward my goal.
