Bamburgh Castle - Michael
by Michael Ramsay

Nearly 1000 years old and still standing, now that's well constructed.

That's very impressive. I'd never heard of this castle before.

I marvel at the scale of human and animal labor required for such construction. We build national/physical security much differently nowadays.
The strong horizontal lines encourage a leisurely eye-scan of the image. The rich green is very attractive, and the autos add a useful cue to scale.

I do love cstles, and this is a beautiful one for sure. As Shirley points out, you can see how they have built and added the different parts, from the main tower to the outer walls, that shows clearly that they were built after the introduction of fire weapons.

Not only is it still standing, just think how hard it was to build that thing! Some parts almost look like they were added on over the years. It is one fine Castle for sure.
