Our Day at the Beach

My friend, John, and I went to the Oregon Coast yesterday to get away from the valley heat. It got to 96 here at home. On the Coast, it was 65, 31 degrees cooler. After a cloudy start the sun soon came out and it was beautiful. We spent time in Old Town Florence and had fun shooting pictures there. After lunch we went to the beach at Driftwood Shores, where we were greeted with very cool weather and fog. We had to wear wind breakers. The wind was very strong, blowing sand in our faces. We had to protect our cameras. Needless to say, we didn't stay there long! This is a beach scene I got while there.

Man that's quite a difference in temperature. I think I would have wanted to be on the coast too.

What a pensive image this is...love the diffused light and the silence of the scene.

The fog looks cool; very sharp definition on everything.
Like the seaside cottage with the bonus bird on top!

Ha Ha Ha! Welcome to the "summer" on the Oregon coast! We have a "beach house" near Pacific City. When its hot in the valley, you can count on a huge fog bank developing off shore... which half the time rolls on shore making for darkish, dampish "air conditioning." I once left the condo here in Vancouver, WA when it was 95 and when I got to the beach house two hours later it was 45.

A very good compo.Always magic and mysterious when fog comes in from the ocean.

The heavy fog makes for a marvelously moody image. Color is outstanding as well. Great capture despite the elements, Vern! V.

Hey, Jim Coffman....You're absolutely right about the loveliness of the scene. However, it'd also look good hanging on your wall....I'll bet, if ya talk nice to Vern, he'd sell ya a print.
