On our first day there, Dave dropped me off so I could walk the 3.5-mile Lava Creek Trail. Our plan was that he would drive to the opposite end of it, park and wait for me there. Reality was he parked, but decided to slowly start walking towards me from his end. We met up and hiked the remaining 1.25 hours together at a slower pace. I did a brisk hike/slow-jogging for most of the first 2+ hours alone, only stopping long enough to snap a quick picture. Then once we met up we went at a slower pace the remaining time together since Dave had a mild ankle-sprain he'd just gotten 5 days before this and was wearing an ankle brace. When I took this shot, I had already hiked down about 1/2 the distance from where he let me out at before seeing how much further I had to go to get down to the river.
