This bird is one of a flock of 8 richly marked Savannah Sparrows (so different from the Ipswich and paler "regular" Savannahs present all winter) that was busy picking over the seaweed and barnacle covered rocks exposed by the low tide at the southern tip of the Gurnet. All the while a dozen or more large seals were bellowing nearby from perches on other exposed rocks just a little further out. With the bright sun, calm air and lapping water, this was a Savannah Sparrow moment that I won't soon forget - but just in case, I took this one's photo to help bring it all back when I want to!
