In years gone by the Wetaskiwin Sabres were the strongest team in central Alberta... Many players went on to play Pro Football... My dad Played when he was in school and was a place kicker, he was able to make 55yard field goals.. He tried out for the Calgary Stampeders was too light as in those days you had to play the whole game and not just used for field goals as they are today. My brother played for the team and so did I in later years. One of best coaches of all times was Norm Brown.. Very well respected... that just touches the surface, go to the museum and read up on them... quite a history for wetaskiwin...
