I'm working nights again... repairs on the main runway. And while I'm out there I'm always looking for trouble.
Found this the other night. It's a Runway Distance Remaining (RDM) sign that's clearly being affected by widebody
jet blast. This sign is located 4,000 feet from the end of the runway, right smack dab in the "rotation" zone
where the big guys lift off. It's 140 ft from the runway centerline or about 65 feet from the runway edge.
All three (3) bolts on the leading side of the legs have pulled out of the concrete making the entire assembly
very close to complete failure. If/when it blows off it will be almost certainly completely destroyed.
The work order for repairs has been issued.

But equally important here is the photo itself. Taken with a Nikon D3, handheld, using only the headlights from
my truck, and at ISO 12,800! Grain in the picture is certainly there, but it's easy to see why I love this
camera! For the type of shots I often have to take in the middle of the night it's my perfect partner in crime. :)
