YES, Sam crawled 10 feet back in the brush to retrieve the duck and place it out in the open.
I have no idea how it died, it could have been hit by the Harris's. There was a Harris's sitting on top of the brush looking in and was reluctent to leave.

There you go Sam, you now have your credit!

I witnessed the Harris's Hawks hunt just before we met. Two flushed the ducks and a third came in attempting hits.

Don't know why it took me so long t put 2&2 together of why that hawk was sitting in the tree for so long.

Though I didn't see the actual contact happen, the Drake had small talon marks on its back from a blow. Yet, that's not what killed it. I believe it died by being forced into the Mesquite at high speed and thus had its neck broke on impact. It definitely was broke when I picked it up.

Also, I'm very glad you stayed for the shot that I knew was coming but couldn't hang around for. You did a great job-!!!!! Superb image.

I'll let you off owing me a duck if ya bring a signed print to Tucson next year-! I really like that shot-! Best to ya, Sam

Call it: "Sweetwater Sam's Duck." I'm the one who recovered it from the shrubs for the Hawks. If not, the bobcat or coyote would have got it and you: No shot-! :))
